Virginija Kliseviciute Fujie is a sculptor and the ceramic artist working in Sweden and Japan.

She has received master degree in ceramic art in 2016 from Gothenburg University Academy of Design and Crafts, and have studied sculpture at Tokyo Zokei University years 2013, 2015-2016.

Earlier works tell a story of childhood memories, going though growth and change. Trying to formulate the unshapable, for example, feeling of being bind by your past and family experience, but slowly growing out of old preconceptions and finding out the world for yourself. Who am I, what do I want, who am I becoming,- seems to be such simple questions, but for the artist the identity is in state of change.

To sculpt is to think, and to think as an example The alien me/white space sculpture is an attempt to visualize the self. From figurative to abstact and back again, more than mode of working, artist follows the idea.

Currently inspired by lessons learned in surfing, she works on developing abstract sculptures and wall pieces on movement and speed. Comical names as Wakame Rider or Longboard boogie, gives a light-hearted impression, but we all know how merciless ocean can be. 

Human against the nature is a new satirical theme, telling story about human struggle to find balance and clarity if only just for a short ride.

Virginija Kliseviciute Fujie har utbildad sig på konsthantverksprogammet med inriktning mot keramikkonst vid HDK- Valand i Göteborg 2011-2016 och på skulpturprogrammet vid Tokyo Zokei University 2013, 2015-2016.

Virginia Kliseviciute Fujie skulpterar människoformer i verklig storlek och tar gipsformer som senare kan användas i olika versioner av keramisk material och uttryck. Genom arbete med människoformen tänker hon om kroppen och inre världen, tiden, minen och förändringen.
